Coach Requirements

Coaching Requirements: follow the chart for steps to complete in becoming a FLYRS coach.

High School Aged Coach	14 to 15 years: volunteer only (this is only for new coaches starting in 2025, if you coached in 2024 and are 15, you will be paid) 16 years: start to be paid Can only be an assistant coach until 18 years - once 18 you can be head coach	Coach and parent sign FLYRS waiver & code of conduct Parent permission to share coaches contact info Complete concussion course optional 1st aid/CPR course (paid for by FLYRS) Complete online FLYRS info course Attend in-person high school coach training	Attend on-the-bike training for each season you coach in the year (volunteer coaches recommended, paid coaches required)	$50 stipend for training completion
Assistant Coach	16 years and older	Sign waiver & code of conduct Complete concussion course optional 1st aid/CPR course (paid for by FLYRS) Complete online FLYRS info course	Pass background check every 2 years Or submit fingerprint clearance card (only for 18 yrs and older) Attend on-the-bike training for each season you coach in the year (unless otherwise specified by FLYRS staff)	$50 stipend for training completion
Head Coach	18 years and older	Sign waiver & code of conduct Complete concussion course Required 1st aid/CPR course (paid for by FLYRS) Complete online FLYRS info course	Pass background check every 2 years Or submit fingerprint clearance card (you are not required to get a FPC card, if you have one, this will work as your background check) Attend on-the-bike training for each season you coach in the year (unless otherwise specified by FLYRS staff)	$50 stipend for training completion
ACA Certified Coach - If you have your ACA certification - FLYRS will acknowledge this for your coaching requirements	ACA specific		Sign waiver & code of conduct If you head coach for FLYRS you will need to be Level 2 ACA or have your 1st aid/CPR certification If you are a level 1 ACA coach - you will need to attend on-the-bike training for each season you coach in the year (unless otherwise specified by FLYRS staff)	You may be eligible for a $50 training stipend based on the trainings you complete.
