Coaching Requirements: follow the chart for steps to complete in becoming a FLYRS coach.
To become a coach with Flagstaff Youth Riders (FLYRS), please review the following requirements based on your desired role:
High School Aged Coach (14-15 years: Volunteer; 16 years: Paid)
High School Aged Coach (14-15 years: Volunteer; 16 years: Paid)
- Eligibility:
- Ages 14-15: Volunteer only (Note: If you coached in 2024 and are now 15, you will be paid)
- Age 16: Eligible for paid positions
- Can serve as an Assistant Coach until age 18; eligible to become a Head Coach at 18
- Annual Requirements:
- Coach and parent sign FLYRS waiver & code of conduct
- Parent permission to share coach's contact information
- Complete concussion course
- Optional First Aid/CPR certification (courses provided by FLYRS)
- Complete online FLYRS information course
- Attend in-person high school coach training
- Additional Requirements:
- Attend on-the-bike training for each season coached during the year (recommended for volunteers; required for paid coaches)
- Compensation:
- $50 stipend upon training completion
- FLYRS Coach pay
- Eligibility:
- Minimum age of 16
- Annual Requirements:
- Sign waiver & code of conduct
- Complete concussion course
- Optional First Aid/CPR certification (courses provided by FLYRS)
- Complete online FLYRS information course
- Additional Requirements:
- Pass background check every 2 years or submit fingerprint clearance card (required for coaches 18 years and older)
- Attend on-the-bike training for each season coached during the year (unless otherwise specified by FLYRS staff)
- Compensation:
- $50 stipend upon training completion
- FLYRS Coach pay
- Eligibility:
- Minimum age of 18
- Annual Requirements:
- Sign waiver & code of conduct
- Complete concussion course

- Complete online FLYRS information course
- Additional Requirements:
- Pass background check every 2 years or submit fingerprint clearance card (if available; not mandatory)
- Attend on-the-bike training for each season coached during the year (unless otherwise specified by FLYRS staff)
- Compensation:
- $50 stipend upon training completion
- FLYRS Coach pay
- Eligibility:
- Must hold ACA certification
- Annual Requirements:
- Sign waiver & code of conduct
- If serving as a Head Coach for FLYRS, must be Level 2 ACA certified or possess First Aid/CPR certification
- Level 1 ACA coaches are required to attend on-the-bike training for each season coached during the year (unless otherwise specified by FLYRS staff)
- Compensation:
- May be eligible for a $50 training stipend based on completed trainings
