Primary Areas of Responsibilities for the Executive Director include, but are not limited to:
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the organization’s goals.
- Ensure alignment of organizational activities with mission and vision.
- Operational Management
- Oversee daily operations and ensure efficient functioning of the organization.
- Manage and support senior staff and ensure effective team performance.
- Financial Oversight
- Develop and manage the annual budget.
- Ensure financial sustainability through fundraising, grant writing, and donor engagement.
- Oversee financial reporting and compliance.
- Fundraising and Development
- Lead fundraising initiatives and build relationships with donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations.
- Develop and execute strategies for resource development.
- Board Relations
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors, providing updates, facilitating meetings, and implementing board decisions.
- Ensure effective governance and support board development.
- Community and Public Relations
- Represent the organization in public forums, media, and community events.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, partners, and community. members.
- Program Development and Evaluation
- Oversee the development and implementation of programs and services.
- Ensure programs are effective and align with the organization’s mission.
- Act as coach for at least 1 group per spring and fall session (rotating age/skill/program)
- Human Resources
- Manage staff recruitment, training, and development.
- Ensure a positive and productive work environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years leadership experience
- Ability to pass a background check (Advanced Criminal Locator Search), including motor vehicle record check
- Ability to meet commercial driving insurance requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Resides (or is willing to relocate) in Flagstaff or surrounding areas
Preferred Qualifications
- Passion for mountain biking.
- Commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
- Willingness to work odd hours to match the needs of the FLYRS program and seasons.
- Bachelor’s or other advanced degree or professional certification.
- Experience in a senior management or executive role, preferably in a non-profit setting.
- Experience in fundraising, strategic planning, and financial management.
- Experience working with a board of directors.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and competing deadlines.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong people skills and ability to work collaboratively, and independently, with others on a team.
- Demonstrate professional demeanor.
- Skills in financial oversight and budget management.
- Ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
- Proficiency in using technology (Google platform) and software relevant to non-profit management.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Additional Information
- Salary Range: This is a full-time position, 40+hours/week. $50,000 – $60,000/annually plus potential annual bonus.
- Benefits: Industry discounts and pro-deals, including discounts from some local bike shops. FLYRS also has a bonus structure for certain performance metrics that can be discussed with final candidates.

The biggest trait we look for in our coaches is the ability to connect with kids and share your passion for mountain biking with them. We typically start coaches as assistant coaches to gain experience and get a feel for what the FLYRS programs look like.

FLYRS coach requirements:
- Ability to connect and have fun with kids
- Mountain bike experience (but you don’t have to be a pro!)
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Can pass a background check
- FLYRS training annually
- High School age coaches must volunteer for one season or one full week of summer camp prior to getting paid. 14 years old is the minimum age to act as a volunteer coach and 15 years old is the minimum age to be a paid coach.
